Project 1.1: Anecdotal Progression

A contemporary MEME is that of

"Do you ever look at someone and wonder, what is going on inside their head?"

- the audio comes from the animation movie Inside Out (a stroke of genius from Disney, Pixar).

"After young Riley is uprooted from her Midwest life and moved to San Francisco, her emotions - Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness - conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house, and school." - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2096673/

There are ridiculous amounts of memes on the internet using this audio, when I first saw the movie however, this clip reminded me of the Simpsons...

More specifically, the cymbal-smashing monkey in Homer Simpson's mind.

The Organ Grinder's Monkey has also been referenced in the Simpsons before.

Organ Grinder's Monkey

Much like the goings-on in Homer's mind, sometimes it's favourable to zone out and think about absolutely nothing (if that is ever possible).

I refer to the metaphorical monkey in my mind as an organ grinder monkey.

I have also been referring to my journals as PAs in recent years (my Personal Assistants).

Whilst heading out of the V&A (or trying to find the exit) I admired Annie Turner's piece Oyster Net (2013) - an impressive ceramic sculpture, visually appearing as a rusty net.

As I took more photos of the sculpture, I noticed another sculpture across the hallway - through the glass. The moment was captured, it went like this...

A true Fleabag moment.

The other sculpture is cast and modelled terracotta, depicting a Gorilla defeating a Gladiator (1876).

Both of these sculptures have individual connotations and meanings from and to their sculptors' and audiences.

For myself, it's a metaphoric-object-word-vomit with so many different readings.

A MIND-FUCK

Brief Synopsis: a very overwhelming display of how I often feel overwhelmed - a tendency that makes me prone to wearing metaphoric blinkers/blinders to the world.

BLINKERS

My 'blinkers' make life both easier and harder

Shamefully blind to some important things in the world

Sometimes disregarding things that should not be disregarded

Sensible priorities are confusing

It is just a happier life with blinkers

Tunnel-vision - only wanting to Look Forward to things

Blinkers must be removed regularly - otherwise a horse might go stir-crazy
